Pete Buttigieg, You Can Come Out Now

Supply chain bottlenecks are choking the nation’s markets, but the secretary of transportation is MIA.

While Joe Biden was attempting to look presidential last week amid the growing national supply chain crisis — a transportation crisis creating serious problems for the distribution of consumer goods from Asia — his secretary of transportation, Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg, has been as “low profile” as his border czar, Kamala Harris, has been during the ongoing invasion of our southern border. If only Buttigieg could coordinate with Harris to arrange for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to each mule in backpacks of ChiCom products. That would help solve the problem.

Seriously, where is Buttigieg?

Well, as it turns out, according to the Leftmedia outlet Politico in what was intended to be a fawning article promoting paid parental leave, “While U.S. ports faced anchor-to-anchor traffic … the usually omnipresent Transportation secretary was lying low.” Suggesting his absence was justified, Politico reported Pete is missing in action because he has been on taxpayer-funded paternity leave with his “husband” Chasten for almost eight weeks and could not be bothered.

In a photo of the happy couple and the twins they adopted, for some reason taken on a maternity hospital bed as if one of them could have birthed a baby, Buttigieg said: “Chasten and I are beyond thankful for all the kind wishes since first sharing the news that we’re becoming parents. We are delighted to welcome Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg to our family.” The twins are a boy and girl named Joseph and Penelope. Turns out, despite assertions from the gender denier cult, gender is binary.

Among the reasons National Review cited for his inexcusable absence would be the obvious: “Buttigieg is a man. He’s not a mother who gave birth and is breastfeeding a child. He’s not even assisting a mother who gave birth and is breastfeeding a child.”

As hundreds of thousands of containers are sitting aboard anchored container ships off California’s coast, and now stalled at east coast ports, creating shortages that are contributing to surging inflation, Pete has been MIA for almost two months. According to his office, Buttigieg has been “mostly offline except for major agency decisions and matters that could not be delegated.” A DOT spokesperson noted that he will “continue to take some time over the coming weeks to support his husband and take care of his new children.”

While Pete was lounging, Barack Obama’s National Economic Council director Larry Summers warned, “We’re in more danger than we’ve been during my career of losing control of inflation in the U.S.”

For his part, Buttigieg claimed the disruptions are not the result of transportation issues, insisting: “Demand is up because income is up, because the president has successfully guided this economy out of the terrifying recession.” Right. He insisted, “The holidays are going to be a lot better this year … because a year ago millions of Americans were sliding into poverty who now have jobs.”

Finally, taking note of the objections to his absence, Buttigieg started ramping up appearances on Leftmedia networks and, hilariously, his press office trumpeted an “in case you missed it” memo insisting, “ICYMI: Secretary Buttigieg Highlights Administration Efforts to Address Ongoing Supply Chain Disruptions.” But having only served as the unpopular mayor of South Bend, Indiana, it seems that the primary skill qualifying Buttigieg for the $220K Biden DOT appointment was that he was “gay.” Perhaps it’s just as well that he’s MIA.

He is also firing back at criticism of his being MIA, claiming such criticism is homophobic. That prompted former Director of National Intelligence, Richard Grenell, to protest, “Secretly not working when you’re the only Secretary of Transportation the U.S. has is outrageous,” adding that claiming objections to “your secret leave is homophobic is pathetic.”

Regarding his absence, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) protested: “We’re in the middle of a transportation crisis, and Pete Buttigieg is sitting at home. Meanwhile, cargo boats are unable to dock and shelves are sitting empty. Pete needs to either get back to work or leave the Department of Transportation. It’s time to put American families first.”

Past time, actually, but the Biden administration puts its statist political agenda far above American families. Biden is a non compos mentis jackass, a narcissistic swamp-dwelling rat for the last 50 years, a dead man walking who doesn’t give a damn about anybody beyond his Beltway agenda.
